Dragon*Con After Action
Another year has come and gone and now it’s time to take a look back at Dragon*Con 2012. For those who couldn’t make it this year, we’ll tell you some of what you missed and for those who have never gone, we’ll tell you why you should, all from your friendly Mayfair perspective.
The big reason for Mayfair to attend was of course the CNAC (Catan North American Championship). We had full tables all weekend as contestants young and old battled to make their way to the final 16. And when we say young, we have to give a special shout-out to our youngest contestant, 10 year old Chloe, who scored a victory in one of the three qualifying matches she played!
In the end though, it came down to Kellie, Bill, Karl and Jamie. Bill Boyer was crowned our winner and is automatically qualified for the CNAC event at next year’s Gen Con! Bill will receive free travel, hotel and badge, courtesy of Dragon*Con and Mayfair Games.
Our other reason to be at Dragon*Con was game demos! We had several demo tables running throughout the show where Mayfair staff taught games to people looking for something new. Some of the games we taught were brand new, like Urbania™ and Star Trek: Catan™ but we also introduced players to some old favorites, including Gangster™ and The Settlers of Catan™.
Of course, mere words can’t describe the fun and energy of Dragon*Con, but hopefully we did the event enough justice that you will come see us next year! Dragon*Con is a feast for the eyes and an event unlike any other, so make your plans now, either to play some demos or to compete for a spot in next year’s World Wide Catan Championships!
